• Mow lawn regularly and remove leaf litter
• Use pest-resistant plants or natural repellents (e.g., citronella, lavender)
• Keep compost bins sealed and away from the house

Indoor Cleanliness

• Store food in airtight containers
• Clean up spills and crumbs immediately
• Empty trash regularly and use sealed bins
• Avoid clutter in closets, basements, and attics
• Wash pet bedding and vacuum frequently
• Fix leaky faucets and reduce humidity with dehumidifiers

Entry Points & Utilities

• Seal gaps around pipes, cables, and utility lines
• Install mesh screens over chimney openings and crawl space vents
• Check basement and garage doors for tight seals
• Use rodent-proof materials (steel wool, copper mesh) for patching holes

Monitoring & Prevention

• Place traps or monitors in high-risk areas (kitchen, garage, attic)
